The "Hot Summer Days" artwork is a series of five paintings. It’s about the Gulf of Mexico oil disaster of 2010 from the perspective of a stay-at-home mom. Although the Gulf of Mexico is far from the Gulf of Finland we still share the sea and its currents. I also felt that the oil eruption and childbirth are of the same origin, both primitive, unstoppable forces of nature. In four of the paintings I used acrylic colours to illustrate all of the unnatural elements and oil paints for the natural elements. One painting is of my son on watercolour paper.
